Lakeland 50 & 100

Mountain Fuel are delighted to be on board as a supporter of the The Montane Lakeland 50 & 100 for 2016. Based in the Lake District, Mountain Fuel was founded by ex soldier Darren Foote who recognised when he was in the army there was not an effective nutrition system available that was easy on stomach, convenient to use and able to to deliver energy and recovery for day after day activity.

Having spent a number of years formulating and testing Mountain Fuel which included extreme combat environments Darren launched Mountain Fuel. From then it’s been a tough journey for this small UK business in a market that is dominated by big names with big budgets and the allure of professional athlete endorsement. However Mountain Fuel has endured the ups and downs and this year were delighted to have welcomed the investment of Rupert Bonington who is based in the Lake District and son of mountaineering legend Sir Chris. He has a passion for running and nutrition and has taken Mountain Fuel back to its roots of endurance sport where it flourishes.

Rupert says, “I invested in Mountain Fuel as it was the only product that I have taken that is more than just a supplement. Yes, as stand alone products they are great, but I also love being able to create meals and snacks and with that share ideas with other Mountain Fuellers. We are creating a community of passionate sports people who also appreciate a balanced approach to nutrition.

We’re delighted when we hear about our Mountain Fuellers ditching the quick fix gels etc and finishing races like the Lakeland 100 and UTMB etc with positive experiences. And we’re even prouder to have supported Walking with The Wounded Teams reaching the North and South Pole and are currently part way through a 1000 mile walk around Britain which has included Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike, Snowdon and Pen Y Fan. Despite advances from the big names in the industry Mountain Fuel is WWTW number one choice for nutrition. This is due to some of their injured veterans need for complex medication which means they can only digest food and drinks that are very easy on the stomach.

“I would not have to go the South Pole without my Mountain Fuel.” Edward Parker, 2103 Team Mentor & Co-Founder of Walking with the Wounded.

Over the last couple of years, the guys at Mountain Fuel have been invaluable to me – great products and a well thought out philosophy. Love how easy system is to use and the fact that you can create your own running snacks too, Morning Fuel with Chocolate Soya and Morning Fuel Power Pancakes are up there as my favourites.” Dave Troman, finished in 6th place and with a smile on his face in the 2015 Lakeland 100. “Awesome stuff – it fuelled me on the Lakeland 50.” Tony Holland, owner of Ultra-Runner.com

“Great news, Mountain Fuel is the only energy drink I can run on for 24hrs or more and definitely helped me the Lakeland 100 this year.” Andrew Slattery, completed and finished the Lakeland 100 in 15th position in 2015 despite having a broken foot for 80 miles.
